Air quality advisory issued in Alberta regions

Jul 16, 2021 | 7:43 AM

A Special Air Quality Statement is in effect for regions across Alberta.

According to Environment Canada, wildfire smoke is causing poor air quality and reducing visibility.

That includes the regions of Medicine Hat-Bow Island-Suffield, Cypress Hills Provincial Park-Foremost, and Brooks-Strathmore-Vulcan.

Heat warnings are still issued for southern Alberta.

The B-C Wildfire Service says much of the central part of the province is at extreme risk of forest fires with more than 300 already burning.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency says there are 129 wildfires burning in the province.
