Water safety tips from RCMP, Red Cross
Hot weather has people across Alberta swarming to the water trying to find some relief.
Swimmers, tubers, floaters, paddlers and boaters are filling up the South Saskatchewan River, Elkwater Lake and smaller bodies of water in our area.
It only takes one mistake to turn a fun outing into a tragic one.
“So far in 2021, Alberta RCMP have responded to 14 drownings”, said Staff Sgt. Brent Meyer of Central Alberta District RCMP and Marine Instructor for Alberta RCMP. “Drownings are usually preventable. A few easy precautions can help you enjoy Alberta’s waterways safely.”
