Covering two new areas

MHTnow expanding Sunday service again

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The city’s on-demand transit service will cover another day for the South Hill and River Flats areas of the city starting next month.

Beginning on July 4, MHTnow will operate from 8:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., replacing current bus routes 20 and 22. Route 21 will continue to operate on its regular service schedule.

Gordon Dykstra, acting transit manager with the city, says Sunday on-demand service has been a success in the northeast and northwest neighbourhoods and the city is excited to expand to the new areas.

Sunday riders using regular transit are encouraged to download the MHTnow app, available in the App Store and on Google Play. The app allows riders to see the location of their bus, the estimated time of arrival, pick-up and drop-off locations, as well as receive notifications on their smartphone before their bus arrives.

“We review our transit operations regularly to ensure they remain both efficient and attractive for our riders, this expansion is the result of those efforts,” Dykstra adds.

MHTnow began operating in September 2020 and first expanded to the South Hill and River Flats areas in November.
