MEDICINE HAT, AB – HALO’s inaugural lottery fundraiser really took off.

In just 36 days tickets sold out.

The lotto launched on March 4.

CEO Paul Carolan says they received support from across Alberta.

With the early sell-out, they moved up the draw date from November to this month.

The early bird draw of $5,000 will be drawn Friday, April 23 at 3 pm.

And the grand prize will be chosen next Friday (Apr.30) for the Cattle’er Cash Lottery.

Carolan says if you don’t have room for cows in your backyard, you can take the cash.

“$50,000 cash or 20 bred heifers. So our sponsorship with Highline Angus worked really well and we do have people who are really considering taking those cattle. Cattle prices are great right now so you can take the cash early or you can wait and make that decision close to the end of November when the cattle will be ready.”

The 2021 HALO Cattle‘er Cash Lottery saw 3,000 tickets made available for $100 each.

The lotto will be their annual event and signature fundraiser going forward.

For next year, Carolan says HALO will see if they can add more chances to win.

They will unveil that late this year or early next.
