Church offering free grad attire to those in need

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Bridge Church wants to make sure all high school students can dress up for graduation, regardless of their financial situation.

The church is offering a seasonal Cinderella Project and Tux Shop. It’s a program that helps less fortunate students with free graduation attire, including dresses, suits, hair, makeup and photography.

The local Cinderella Project is still building its stock through donations. Those selected for the program will be sent to Lethbridge, Taber or Okotoks for a storefront shopping experience. Photos will take place in Medicine Hat.

Shyla Maneschyn, a pastor at Bridge Church, says every student deserves the whole grad experience.

“We just want to meet people’s needs and want them to have that experience for grad that everyone else has, even if they can’t afford it,” Maneschyn said. “It’s a fully free thing and to be able to go in and shop and pick, rather than be handed something that they can have that shopping experience for grad.”

To donate dresses, tuxedos, shoes or accessories, Bridge Church accepts items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Tuesdays at 350 First Ave. NE .
