The Mustard Seed’s new kitchen and dining area now open

MEDICINE HAT, AB – After 13 months in the making, The Mustard Seed’s new community centre opened today.

The new space offers a top-of-the-line kitchen and dining area.

The upgrade cost $350,000 and was paid for within a year thanks to grants and local sponsorships.

The Mustard Seed was feeding guests out of a trailer and only offering to-go meals and lunch bags.

Murray Kumm, Spiritual Care Chaplain at The Mustard Seed, says the great thing about the new community centre is people can dine inside.

“We were doing that at the Champions Centre before COVID, but the COVID restrictions we have such a small dining room over there, we went from feeding 35 to 40 people at a time down to five,” Kumm said.

The new space can seat up to 20 people with COVID-19 restrictions.

The Mustard Seed kitchen meal program is open seven days a week from 8-10 a.m. It is located at 503A Allowance Ave SE.
