Water and sewer replacements coming to Light Industrial Area

Apr 14, 2021 | 12:25 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The city will begin work next week to replace aging and deteriorating water and sewer infrastructure on 17th Street SW, between 9th and 10th Avenue.

The work will require the closure of 17th Street for the duration of the project, including the intersection at 9th Avenue. Traffic on 10 Avenue, a high-traffic industrial and residential route, will be reduced to one lane in both directions.

The city says the work – which will also enhance the storm drainage system through the installation of concrete swales and other surface improvements – expected to be finished by the end of August 2021, depending on weather conditions.

Detours will be in place but local access to area businesses will be maintained. Motorists are reminded to follow all traffic signs and detours related to the construction.

More information on the project can be found on the city’s website.

Work in Kin Coulee Park

On Monday, the city also said staff are working to repair a main line break on a water line that feeds three washrooms in Kin Coulee Park.

They will be closed until further notice and portable toilets will be available for use.
