Local church preparing for another virtual Easter service

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Most Easter Sundays, Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church is full.

The church is bustling with regulars, out-of-towners and kids buzzing off chocolate.

This year, lead minister Dave Pollard is preparing for the second year of virtual celebrations.

Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church will join Westminster United for the Good Friday service. On Easter Sunday they will host their own virtual service.

Pollard says it’s important to keep services going because people need to know God is still speaking, especially mid-pandemic.

“We as Christians believe, certainly with Easter, it’s probably the holiest day of the year for us,” Pollard said. “We want to tell the good news that Christ has in fact risen, especially now to let people know we’re not alone.”

Fifth Avenue’s Easter service will be on their Facebook page at 10 a.m on Sunday.
