Replacement of aging infrastructure to be part of work on Division Avenue South this summer

Mar 10, 2021 | 5:07 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Division Avenue South will continue to be a focus of critical infrastructure enhancement in 2021, just as it was last year when aging infrastructure was addressed.

The city says construction will replace aging water and sanitary mains along Division Avenue South from Second Street SE to Third Street SE, and include geometric improvements to the Third Street intersection.

Tree removal will start the week of March 15 to accommodate construction that will occur this spring as weather conditions and spring thawing allow.

The tree on the traffic island will be removed, along with seven shrubs and one additional tree along Third Street SE, east of Division Avenue. In adherence to the city’s Tree Preservation Bylaw #4218, a tree replacement strategy will be developed by the Parks and Recreation department for the loss of the trees due to this project.
