COVID-19 update: Case numbers continue to decline in Medicine Hat

EDMONTON – Alberta Health confirmed 341 new cases of COVID-19 across the province Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases to 4,649.

8,142 tests have been completed over a 24 hour period. The provincial positivity rate is 4 .1 per cent.

There are 36 new variant cases bringing the total to 599 province-wide. None are in the South Zone.

In Medicine Hat, case numbers keep declining. There are 13 active cases in the city. That number is down from 17 on Friday. A total of 529 people have recovered. The city has 17 recorded deaths.

Cypress County has one active case, and 144 recoveries.

Newell County has one active case, 157 recoveries and two recorded deaths.

The city of Brooks has one active case, 1348 recoveries and 14 recorded deaths.

Lethbridge County has 16 active cases, 526 recoveries, and seven deaths.

Lethbridge has 258 active cases, 197 recoveries, and 20 deaths.

Hospitalizations province-wide stand at 247. That number is up by four from Friday’s update. A total of 42 are in intensive care.

Vaccine distribution is ongoing in the province. A total of 282,684 doses of the vaccine were administered March 5.
