Tiny Tots Soccer working on possible registration plan

MEDICINE HAT, AB – This week’s government announcement on easing restrictions has left some organizations still playing the waiting game, including youth sport and recreation activities.

That category is in Step 3.

The organizer of Tiny Tots Soccer Allen Parker said in a Facebook post that the announcement was disappointing and did not do much to encourage confidence for sports moving forward.

Parker says they are working on a contingency registration plan that they hope may allow them to host a season on short notice.

Tiny Tots Soccer is for 3-5-year-olds and runs in May and June.

Most years they can have up to 20 teams, but Parker says it’s hard to imagine running at full capacity.

“We’re still trying to find a way that we can have a short-term registration and still make something happen. But that’s a challenge and we’re not 100 percent sure yet how we can make all that happen but we’re looking into all the options that we can because we feel it fills a need in the city and a need for young kids to be active,” Parker told Chat News.

Last year the Tiny Tot season was cancelled during mid-registration and they had to refund money.

And they don’t want to start a registration process knowing the possibility the season may not run.

Normally they start the registration process in January.
