Three injured in fire at grain elevator west of Brooks, say RCMP

BROOKS, AB – Three workers were transported to hospital following a grain elevator fire near Brooks on Wednesday.

The injuries are considered non-life-threatening, say Brooks RCMP, who responded with the Brooks Fire Department, EMS and Fortis.

The fire happened around 1:30 p.m. in a rural area west of Brooks near the JBS meat plant at Range Road 150 and Highway 1, say RCMP.

Alberta Occupational Health and Safety has been engaged and will investigate in collaboration with Brooks RCMP.

Brooks Fire Department remains on scene and are actively engaged in fire suppression efforts.

The public is asked to avoid the area.
