MEDICINE HAT, AB- Approximately 25 students and staff from a grade 4 class at St. Michael’s school have been ordered to self-isolate.

Superintendent Dwayne Zarichny said a student came down with symptoms, and AHS informed them that close contacts need to self-isolate.

The student, is awaiting a COVID-19 test result and has not officially tested positive.

“AHS made the call because they had symptoms to actually enact a quarantine and issue an alert to the school,” said Zarichny.

Students and staff who were with the student last Thursday and Friday have been directed to self-isolate.

The school is following all COVID-19 guidance from Alberta Health Services.

Custodial staff have been directed to conduct enhanced cleaning of the school.
