COVID-19 update : 1,879 new cases six additional deaths

EDMONTON, AB- The province of Alberta confirmed 1,879 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday and six new deaths.

There are 18,806 active cases across the province and 563 cases are in hospital with 101 in ICU.

In the South zone, there are 610 active cases. Seventeen are in hospital and five are in intensive care.

Medicine Hat reported another death on Saturday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to five.

There are 94 active cases in the city and 213 recoveries.

Outbreaks have been declared at Moduline Industries and Element Technical Industries.

In Cypress County, there are 12 active cases and 110 recoveries.

Newell County has 17 active cases and 94 recoveries.

Brooks has 27 active cases, 1249 recoveries, and 14 deaths.

In a post on Twitter, the province’s chief medical officer of health urged Albertans to continue to follow public health guidance and limit in-person interactions.
