Annual pets & more fundraiser supports local animal rescues and shelters

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Six local animal shelters and rescues will benefit from the third annual Pets & More Fundraiser.

True North K9 Compound is switching things up this year from their past Christmas markets.

Up for auction is a one of a kind child’s playhouse, dog house, and cat “catio”.

The playhouse is fully furnished, solar-powered, insulated, and wired for power as well.

The dog house is made with barn wood from 1950 from a farm in Cereal, AB. There’s an insulated, bed inside and a feeding station.

Funds will support Persian Dreams & Canine Themes, Southern Alberta Humane Society, Furry Friends Food Foundation, Bunny Rub Rabbit Rescue, Medicine Hat SPCA, and APARC.

Volunteer assistant Jody Leupold hopes Medicine Hat comes on board to help support the animals and the local societies.

“With COVID and everything right now, animals are very important to us. I haven’t been well myself and my dog has been a great support for me,” she said. “With all the stresses that we’re feeling nowadays, it’s just nice sometimes to come home to our animals because they can relieve a lot of that for us.”

That being said, Leupold says there are many animals that have been relinquished and are in need of love and care.

To make an online bid visit this link, it will be up until December 18.

There were some sponsorships for the homes, but some bills have to get paid off first. The money will then be split among the rescue societies.

Leupold says there are options for installment payments as well and the house will be delivered.
