EDMONTON, AB – The Government of Alberta is inviting residents to talk about the future of the province’s trust fund and where its money should go.

At 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, you can take part in the Heritage Savings Trust Fund’s annual public meeting at the Edmonton Federal Building.

Those unable to attend in person can watch live on Alberta Assembly TV or online at https://www.assembly.ab.ca/ or on the Legislative Assembly’s social media channels.

You can take part in a live Q&A session by:

  • Phoning 888-241-0394
  • Using @LegAssemblyofAB on Facebook
  • Using the hashtag #ABHeritageFund on Twitter
  • Sending an email to Committee.Admin@assembly.ab.ca

“The Fund is an investment in our province’s future, so it is important that Albertans know how it is managed and how it is performing,” said Ronald Orr, Chair of the Committee. “The public meeting is an opportunity to have a conversation about the status and future of the Heritage Fund. The Committee looks forward to engaging with people from across the province about Alberta’s main long-term savings fund and its relevance both now and for future generations.”

The Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund was created in 1976 as a way of continually contributing to matters including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and social programs.

Net financial assets, as of June 30, 2020, were $17.2-billion. In the first three months of the current fiscal year, the fund earned $4-million in net income.
