“Big Bag of Cash” replaces Kinsmen home lotto this year

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The winner of the Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club’s brand new lottery will be starting off the new year $100,000 richer.

The club launched the Big Bag of Cash lottery on Thursday.

Tickets are $100 each and 2,500 tickets have been printed.

Sales close on Boxing Day and the draw will be made on January 2, 2021.

The Big Bag of Cash will replace the annual home lottery this year.

Lotto Co-Chair Steven Pudwell says they have been doing the home lotto for the past 38 years.

“And this year due to COVID everything has changed a little bit for us. The rules that we were encountering to open a house for viewing, timelines to get the house built, and things like that it was just going to be a struggle. So we had to pivot like a lot of organizations and we’ve come up with this idea of the Big Bag of Cash lottery.”

The Kinsmen Club will continue to offer the bonus 50/50 draw. Those tickets are $10 and that minimum payout is $20,000 but last year the winner took home over $47,000.

Pudwell says the local Kinsmen Club puts $200,000-$250,000 per year back into the community for its greatest needs.

Visit the Kinsmen Club’s website for tickets.

The Kinsmen are also looking into selling tickets in-person in November.
