RCMP seeking suspect in Waterton bear spray incident

WATERTON, AB – Pincher Creek RCMP are searching for a man who used bear spray on another man while hiking in Waterton Lakes National Park.

On September 20th, a man hiking on the Bertha Lake Trail was sprayed with bear spray by an unknown man who was “startled.”

RCMP say there was no criminal intent in the use of the bear spray, but they would like to speak with the man who used it.

According to RCMP, the man was described as:

  • 40-50 years old
  • Approximately 5’8 with a stocky build
  • Was wearing a blue shirt
  • Possibly of eastern European descent
