MEDICINE HAT, AB – A $25,000 donation from Canadian Natural Resources will go much further for the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta.

The donation to the foundation’s COVID-19 response fund qualifies for the provincial government’s matching fund.

Sue Edwards, assistant director with the Community Foundation, says the money will help a wide variety of local groups.

“This money is going to go right back into our community this summer and into the fall to COVID-related charities to COVID issues that have been caused by COVID for those charities offering programs for food securities, mental health, child and youth care, seniors, just anybody really that’s been affected by COVID.”

Curtis Scherger, CNRL superintendent for the Medicine Hat district, says the company wants to help people get through these tough times.

“COVID hit and it put a lot of people out of work and a lot of people are in need. CNRL felt it was for us to step up to the plate and donate and help out where needed.”

Any donations to the foundation’s COVID-19 response fund before May 31 will qualify for the matching program. To donate to the fund visit the CFSEA website.
