Intermunicipal development plan meeting tonight at the Esplanade

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Residents of Medicine Hat, Redcliff and Cypress County will be able to have their input on the region’s Tri-Area Intermunicipal Development Plan tonight at the Esplanade.

The document is a land-use planning document aimed at coordinating cooperation between the three municipalities regarding future use of lands which border the jurisdictions.

Tonight’s meeting is the final public meeting on the proposed plan which is scheduled to have third readings in each municipality over the course of March.

Highlights of the proposed Tri-Area IDP include a proposed greenhouse corridor west of the city’s airport, a commercial-industrial area west of Redcliff and an expanded rural development area south of Dunmore.

A late submission which will be heard at tonight’s joint meeting is a request by EGS Farms not to be included in the greenhouse corridor as well as TC Energy’s proposed 62 kilometre looping natural gas pipeline north of the city.
