Police Point Park to host “Otter Quest”

MEDICINE HAT, AB – News of a trio of river otters camped out near Police Point Park has seen the urban reserve inundated with people looking to catch a glimpse of the rare mammal in the Medicine Hat area. And now the park will be hosting an “Otter Quest” to help those to view the elusive critters.

Park interpreter Marty Drut says it’s been a little more than a week since there has been a confirmed sighting of the trio of otters – but not because of a lack of trying by residents and visitors alike.

“It’s hard to know if they are still around. They may be and just out of sight and maybe – with the number of people looking for them – they are just not visible,” said Drut.

But on March 1, Drut says the park is organizing a Otter Quest in the hopes of tracking down the aquatic mammals.
