BOW ISLAND, AB — Members of the United Nurses Association in Bow Island will also be participating in information rallies and walks this week.

The UNA revealed Tuesday that members of Local 409, which represents the Bow Island Health Centre, will be participating in the event from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Main Street in the town.

According to a post on the UNA website, members are being told to attend the events during non-work time, coffee breaks and lunch breaks.

Multiple locals across Alberta will be participating in the events. The purpose of the events, the UNA says, is to raise concerns about the provincial government’s decision to lay off nurses and the impact it will have on care.

Two other UNA locals in Medicine Hat will be rallying on Thursday. Members of Local 70, which represents staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, will be outside the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Local 126, which represents workers with Palliser Community, will meet at the Tim Hortons on 13th Avenue and walk to MLA Drew Barnes office from 12:15-12:45 p.m.
