BROOKS, AB – It was a dominant performance from start to finish for the Brooks Bandits (38-3-1), who shutout the Calgary Canucks 8-0 on Saturday night at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Goaltender Ethan Barwick (St. Albert, AB) made 14 saves for his 3rd shutout of the season.

Brooks’ first goal came 2:38 into the game on the powerplay as forward Brayden Krieger (Elora, ON) tucked in the puck after dekeing out Canucks starter Connor Martin. Then at 5:21, forward Trey Thomas (Williams Lake, BC) scored his first of the night on a backhand shot.

At 8:57, defenceman Phip Waugh (McLean, VA) made a great move to the Canuck net, stuffing in a short side unassisted goal to make it 3-0. A wide open forward TJ Hughes (Hamilton, ON) finished off a Justin Ross (Calgary, AB) pass at 15:29, followed by a Randy Hernández goal at 16:59 that made it 5-0.

To add salt in the wound, Krieger scored another goal with 14 seconds left in the first to make it 6-0, the Bandits 2nd six goal 1st period this season (7 goals in 1st period Dec 14 @ Whitecourt).

The 2nd period saw defenceman Jordan Di Cicco (London, ON) score on a wrist shot on replacement goalie Jay Thomson at 10:22, followed by another Thomas goal at 18:22 to make it 8-0.

No goals were scored in the 3rd period, final shots were 46-14 Brooks.
