Red Deer Mounties round up repeat offenders

Red Deer, AB – A four-day warrant round-up conducted by Red Deer RCMP last month has resulted in the arrest of 39 people facing a total of 163 charges.

Between December 10 and 13, the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) executed 121 warrants and recovered three stolen vehicles, along with three Pinpoint persons arrested as part of the warrant round-up.

Mounties say CRT members targeted repeat offenders linked to property and drug offences, in keeping with the 2018-2020 Annual Policing Plan focus on crime reduction in the areas of property and drugs.

“Warrant round-ups are a tool that we continue to use because they are effective,” says Sergeant Karyn Kay of Red Deer RCMP, in a release. “As a part of Project Pinpoint, the Red Deer RCMP’s targeted crime reduction strategy, we use round-ups to let our repeat offenders know that if they continue to commit crimes, we will catch them.”

Police add the warrant round-up was undertaken by the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team, General Investigation Section (GIS) and general duty police officers, with significant support from municipal staff members including criminal analysts and watch clerks.
