Insurance company reminds travellers about insurance

Quast says, “I have seen plans help out with emergency dental surgery, broken arms, and even the common cold. When you’re travelling you just don’t know what will happen and travel insurance protects you”.

She encourages travellers to talk to their friendly neighbourhood broker as there are restrictions for health and medical coverage and pre-existing conditions. As for the coverage dollar amount, you could have $5-million to $10-million worth of coverage pending on the insurance company.

If travellers do need to use their travel insurance, Quast says your broker will give you a booklet and wallet card with all the contact information for you to start the process if needed.

She says, “The biggest thing is it depends on what happened if it’s something minor just call the number on your wallet card and start the process. But if you are hurt go to the hospital and show them the wallet card and they can take over from there.”

Meantime, if there is a delay, the weather takes a turn, or if there’s a natural disaster at your travel destination, Quast says trip cancellation coverage will help protect and mitigate your loss.
