Whitla Wind Facility now running
WHITLA, AB — The Whitla Wind Facility is now officially operational, and the company has already announced expansion plans.
According to a news release from Capital Power, the first phase of the project in the County of 40 Mile started commercial operations on the wind power facility on December 1.
The company says the project was completed on schedule and on budget, “within its $315 million to $325 million target.” It is capable of generated 201.6 megawatts of power.
In the same release, Capital Power announced they will be developing the Whitla Wind 2 Project in 2021. The company says it will add 97.2 megawatts of renewable energy to the electricity grid in Alberta.
