NEW YORK — Hamilton’s Kia Nurse has been named as one of the starting guards for the WNBA All-Star Game.

Nurse is averaging 16 points, 2.1 assists, 2.7 rebounds and one steal over 15 games, all starts, for the New York Liberty this season. She is shooting 41.2 per cent form the floor, 35.8 per cent from three-point range and 91.8 per cent from the free-throw line.

Elena Delle Donne, for the second straight year, and A’ja Wilson were named as captains for the July 27 game in Las Vegas.

Delle Donne’s team lost to Candace Parker’s squad last year in the All-Star contest. The Washington Mystics star led the fan balloting.

Wilson and Delle Donne will select their teams from the other starters chosen by the fans, media and players.

Other frontcourt players include Wilson’s teammate in Las Vegas’ Liz Cambage, Phoenix’s Brittney Griner, Seattle’s Natasha Howard and Connecticut’s Jonquel Jones.

The other three starting guards are Los Angeles’ Chelsea Gray, Seattle’s Jewell Loyd and Las Vegas’ Kayla McBride.
