Influenza continues to hit province hard
MEDICINE HAT, AB — One month after the influenza season started in Alberta, new numbers released by Alberta Health Services shows how the virus is impacting Albertans.
According to the weekly influenza report, 320 people across the province have been hospitalized with lab confirmed cases of influenza since it began offering influenza immunizations in October.
Dr. Vivien Suttorp, Lead Medical Officer of Health, for the South Zone, says the number of hospitalizations in the province is ahead of what it was at this point last year.
