Youth facing 14 charges in connection with shooting of German tourist on Alberta highway
MORLEY, AB — RCMP have laid 14 charges against a 16-year-old male in connection with the shooting of a German tourist on a highway near Morley earlier this month.
During a news conference Tuesday morning, RCMP confirmed the youth, a member of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, was taken into custody on August 24th in connection with the incident. He has been charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent and possession of a prohibited weapon, among other charges. The youth cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The tourist, 60, was shot in the head while driving on Highway 1A with his family on August 2nd.
He has since returned to Germany for specialized treatment.
