MEDICINE HAT, AB — Several local badminton players have qualified for provincials.
The Alberta Schools Athletic Association wrapped up the South Zone badminton championships Wednesday night, with a full slate of action at the Family Leisure Centre and Medicine Hat High School. The first and second place athletes in each division qualify for provincials in Red Deer next week.
Among local competitors, James Nguyen from Medicine Hat High School took home first place on the senior boys side, topping Landon French from St. Mary’s. Nguyen, an exchange student from Vietnam, is considered a favourite at provincials.
