Kaspick buries Tigers comeback with OT tally
BRANDON, MB — Jimmy Hamblin scored a pair of markers to help erase a three-goal deficit, but the Brandon Wheat Kings secured the extra point with a 4-3 overtime win over the Medicine Hat Tigers Friday night.
Wheat Kings captain Tanner Kaspick scored the game winner while Ryan Chyzowski was watching from the penalty box. It took eight shots in the extra frame before Kaspick finally solved Jordan Hollett, handing the Tigers their third loss in the last four games. Two of those losses have been to Brandon in OT.
Brandon bolted out of the gate with three quick goals prior to the midway mark of the first. It took Linden McCorrister just 3:04 to get the Wheat Kings on the board. That was closely followed by Evan Weinger’s 12th of the season, along with last weekend’s overtime hero Stelio Mattheos finding the twine 9:18 into the contest.
Michael Bullion began the game in the blue paint, but was replaced by Jordan Hollett following the Wheat Kings second marker. The Alaskan made five saves on seven shots, while his counterpart stopped all but two of the 41 shots fired afterwards.
