Tigers claw out last minute comeback, beat Oil Kings in shootout
MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers saved the best for last on Wednesday night.
Alternate captain Ryan Chyzowski tied the game late in the third period, and captain James Hamblin scored the shootout winner in a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Canalta Centre.
It’s the Tigers first victory over the Central Division-leading Oil Kings in four games this season.
After the Tigers pulled goaltender Jordan Hollett, trailing 3-2 in the last minute of play, Chyzowski reignited the crowd with 34.3 showing on the clock. The alternate captain wasn’t expected to play in the game, nursing a skate laceration on his leg from Jan. 5, but was cleared to play on short notice after making significant progress over the last 48 hours.
