Plessis wins it in OT as Bandits down Kodiaks 4-3
CAMROSE, AB – Nathan Plessis (Salmon Arm, B.C.) tipped home a Nic Hamre (Ottawa, ON) shot just over halfway through three-on-three overtime to give the Brooks Bandits (10-4-1) a dramatic 4-3 win over the Camrose Kodiaks (4-6-4) on Saturday night in Camrose.
The Bandits came back from an early 1-0 deficit, but saw a late 3-1 lead evaporate with two third period goals by the Kodiaks to force the extra frame.
Camrose notched the only goal of the opening period on the team’s first power play of the game, when Ryan Hartman one-timed in a shot from the slot to give them the 1-0 lead.
The Bandits came out firing in the second though, with Simon Boyko (Mississauga, ON) firing home a rebound shot from a Dennis Cesana (Providence, RI) shot to tie the game at 1:21.
Just 1:15 later, Ryan Mahshie (Stoney Creek, ON) fed a pass in front from the left half boards that was deflected home from the front of the net by Orca Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) to give Brooks its first lead of the game.
