Search underway for youth reportedly swept into Oldman River

LETHBRIDGE – Emergency crews are searching the Oldman River in Alexander Wilderness Park and Pavan Park, after a youth was reportedly swept under the water this evening, July 6.

The Lethbridge Police Service has confirmed that they are involved in the search and rescue operation north of the city, after receiving the call.

While reports at this time indicate the youth is a 14-year-old boy, police could not confirm the age or gender.

They have deployed a drone to assist in the effort and are working with the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services’ Water Rescue Team.

At this time police are asking that you avoid the area. They also noted that an update will be provided to the public as soon as possible.
