MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Police Service are again reminding drivers to watch their speed after a driver was clocked going more than 50 kilometres over the speed limit over the weekend.

On Monday, the Medicine Hat Police Service’s Traffic Unit posted on Twitter that a photo radar camera had captured a vehicle allegedly travelling 105 kilometres per hour in a 50 kilometre/hour zone.

The radar was set up on Gershaw Drive near the Trans-Canada Highway intersection, according to Sgt. Clarke White with the Traffic Unit. White says the car was clocked shortly after 7 p.m.

White says if a vehicle is clocked travelling more than 50 km/hour over the speed limit, a summons has to be served, requiring a mandatory court appearance. He says members of the traffic unit served the summons later that evening to a male youth.

The youth will appear before a judge on January 28th, where he could face significant fines or have his licence suspended.
