STRATHMORE, ALTA- Two people accused of dragging a dog behind a car in southern Alberta this past summer are no longer facing a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
R-C-M-P got reports in early July of a dog on a leash being dragged down the Trans-Canada Highway east of Calgary.
An abandoned car with a critically injured canine tied to it were found hours later and a decision was made to have the animal put down at a veterinary clinic.
A 41-year-old Calgary woman and a 20-year-old man were arrested and charged, but court records confirm the count against both has been withdrawn.
