High water alert lifted in Cypress County

Apr 19, 2018 | 5:29 PM

CYPRESS COUNTY, AB — The high water alert for Cypress County has ended.

Alberta Emergency Alert posted a message at 4:42 p.m. on Thursday, indicating the alert is no longer in effect.

The alert was issued on Wednesday due to a high flow rate in the Bullshead and Seven Persons Creeks, which led to concerns about overland flooding in low-lying areas.

The city has closed several trails near the creek as a precaution, including including the Kin Coulee south tunnel, Dunmore Road, Scholten Hill and Highway 41A. There is no word yet if the closures in the city will be lifted.
