White Mud Hockey League season begins with Maple Creek Hawks hosting Leader Flyers

Nov 7, 2026 | 7:00 AM

The White Mud Hockey League season begins in Maple Creek on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Senior men’s hockey returns when the Hawks host the Leader Flyers at 8 p.m. at the Maple Creek Community Arena.

Each team in the league will play a 16-game regular season from November until the end of January.

The league has dropped to six teams from seven after the Frontier Flyers folded in the offseason.

Playoffs will begin in February.

On Friday, Oct. 13, the Gull Lake Greyhounds host the Cabri Bulldogs, kicking off the season for both.

Maple Creek will welcome Shaunavon for the Badgers’ first game of the season next Friday.

The Hawks will follow that up with a game against the Badgers in Shaunavon the following night.

The Badgers are the defending champs, defeating the Leader Flyers in last year’s final.

Shaunavon didn’t lose a game in the White Mud last season, going 16-0 in the regular season and 6-0 in the playoffs.

The Badgers also went 6-1, on their way to winning a Saskatchewan Provincial C title in the 2025-26 season.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, the Eatonia Huskies will start their season by hosting the Gull Lake Greyhounds.

Also that night, the Leader Flyers are in Cabri to face the Bulldogs.

Each team includes a strong group of local players in the lineup.

However, dozens of players from southeast Alberta travel to southwest Saskatchewan each year to play in the league.

Updates on the season are posted on the league website.
