Hamilton returns as Cypress County Mayor, Kurpjuweit named Deputy Mayor

Dan Hamilton will continue to serve as the mayor of Cypress County, and Robin Kurpjuweit was appointed deputy mayor at the County’s annual organizational meeting on Tuesday.

Hamilton has represented Ward 5, which includes the Dunmore and Veinerville area, since 2013. He has held the chief elected official role since 2018.

Council formally changed the name of the position from reeve to mayor at a meeting in December 2025.

Kurpjuweit begins his first term as deputy mayor. He represents Ward 4, an area located east and south of Dunmore, and has served as a councillor since 2017. Coun. Shane Hok previously held the role of deputy mayor.
