Medicine Hat council approves four-unit row house development, explores secondary road
Medicine Hat City Council has approved a rezoning to allow a four-unit row house development across two properties in Saamis Heights, while also directing administration to explore options for a permanent secondary roadway in the neighbourhood.
Council voted in favour of rezoning 22 Sierra Green SW from Neighbourhood Residential 1 to Neighbourhood Residential 2 at its regular Oct. 19 meeting, allowing the property to be consolidated with a neighbouring lot for the proposed development.
A public hearing took place at the previous council meeting on Oct. 6, which was paused to allow administration to review concerns about emergency access and egress in the area.
Mayor Linnsie Clark told council that administration found the proposed development would not have a significant negative impact on the emergency exit connecting Saamis Heights to Southridge Drive.
