Osgood to make WHL debut as Tigers battle East Division leading Wheat Kings

Oct 17, 2026 | 2:00 PM

As the Medicine Hat Tigers battle early-season injury woes, their 2026 first-round pick, Max Osgood, will make his WHL debut as the Tigers take on the East Division-leading Brandon Wheat Kings.

Osgood steps in as Luke Ruptash and Arvid Drott draw out of the Tiger lineup, while the Tabbies are already without Noah Davidson, Gavin Kor, and Reily Pickford.

The Plymouth, MI, product will look to aid a Tabbies team that has been battling the puck while suffering back-to-back 6-1 losses amidst a three-game losing streak.

It marks the first time the Tigers have been held to one goal or fewer in consecutive games since March of 2024.

20-year-old forward Luke Cozens has scored the last two Tiger goals, finding the back of the net in the first period in each of the last two games.

Special Teams have been a struggle as of late for the Tigers, with their penalty kill operating at 60 percent over its last 20 kills, while the powerplay has been held without a goal on its last 18 chances.

Their opponent, the Brandon Wheat Kings, return home tonight following a six-game B.C. Division road trip that saw the East-Division leaders finish on a five-game win streak.

Brandon came from behind in Kelowna, winning 3-2 in overtime while scoring the final three goals of the game to conclude their road trip.

Earlier this week, the Wheat Kings acquired Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Aiden Foster from the Prince George Cougars in exchange for four draft picks.

Foster is currently serving a three-game suspension and will not be in the lineup against Medicine Hat.

Puckdrop from Assiniboine Credit Union Place is slated for 5:00 p.m. MST with the pre-game show beginning at 4:45 on WILD 94.5 FM.
