The Medicine Hat Tigers overcame two separate two-goal deficits to secure a point but ultimately fell short, falling in a shootout 4-3 to the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Oil Kings netminder Parker Snell was outstanding in net for Edmonton, making 37 saves in the win, including several A+ saves in the third period and overtime to keep the Medicine Hat offense at bay.

Markus Ruck led the Tiger offense with a pair of assists in the win while adding the helper on his twin brother Liam’s opening goal, who also had a two-point night.

Arvid Drott deflected home his first career Western Hockey League goal late in the second period to get the Tigers back within one.

The Tigers tied the game up late in the third period courtesy of 20-year-old defenseman Dayton Reschny with 4:02 remaining in the third.

Luke Melnik scored the lone goal in the shootout to secure the win for Edmonton as they handed the Tigers just their second loss of the season.

Medicine Hat concludes their three-game homestand tomorrow night against the Victoria Royals.
