Budget plans, Riverside Corridor design and Heron Crossing faced by Medicine Hat council
Medicine Hat City Council tackled preliminary budget plans, infrastructure projects, funding opportunities and several policy and administrative changes at its latest meeting Monday.
Council is facing projected budget gaps of $7.5 million in 2027 and $6.8 million in 2028 as it begins work on the city’s next two-year budget.
The figures were presented as the administration outlined preliminary assumptions and spending requests for the 2027-28 budget cycle.
Under the current assumptions, property tax revenue would increase by 4.65 per cent in 2027 and 4.40 per cent in 2028, while assessment growth is projected at 0.5 per cent and 0.75 per cent, respectively.
