The City of Medicine Hat will begin rehabilitating three trails in the Ross Creek network next week as part of its 2026 trail rehabilitation program.

Work is scheduled to begin Aug. 24 on Carter Crescent, Ross Glen, and East Glen trails and continue until late October, weather permitting.

The 1.23-kilometre project will see existing asphalt removed and replaced, with the trails widened from 2.5 metres to three metres to improve accessibility and increase capacity for active transportation.

Construction will include preparing and compacting the trail subgrade, widening shoulders where needed, paving the expanded surfaces and restoring areas disturbed by the work.

The project will also include replacing outdated trail signs, repairing and upgrading deteriorated fencing and replacing an existing culvert to improve drainage.

Signage will be posted as crews move through the trail network, and users are asked to proceed with caution and use alternate routes where possible.

The city says the project is part of its ongoing efforts to maintain and improve Medicine Hat’s trail network for recreation and active transportation.
