Medicine Hat council approves $4M electric generation funding, business licence fee changes
Medicine Hat City Council approved a $4.005-million reallocation for electric generation projects and changes to the city’s business licence fee structure at its meeting on Monday.
The electric generation funding will come from working capital previously allocated to projects that were completed under budget or are no longer expected to proceed.
The money will go toward high-pressure steam system valves on units 10 and 11, upgrades and inspections at Pumphouse 7, and the replacement and overhaul of a combustor on Unit 11.
The Unit 11 work is already underway after a crack was found during a routine inspection, while the Pumphouse 7 work is intended to address aging equipment and prevent potential disruptions to plant operations.
