Aug 5, 2026 | 12:47 PM

The City of Medicine Hat is preparing to demolish two unused buildings along Kipling Street Southeast after the structures deteriorated to the point where they pose a public safety concern.

The buildings, located at 345 Kipling Street Southeast, were previously used as a locomotive storage building and a salt shed.

The City says demolition is now required to address the condition of the aging structures.

Work is scheduled to take place from August 10 to 12, with crews completing the demolition as weather permits.

During the demolition process, a section of the trail running along the south side of the site will be closed to the public.
