Medicine Hat Mavericks host Moose Jaw on Monday, Mavs’ Roth wins MVP at WCBL All-Star Game

The Mavs pitchers gave up a combined five home runs in the game, with the Mavs getting one homer from Carson Chan during the contest.

Mavs infielder Carter Roth took home a 9-2 win with Team East at the All-Star Game and also won the Most Valuable Player Award with a strong hitting performance.

Roth was 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and two runs batted in on Sunday. He received a Gatorade bath during his post-game interview.

Also representing the Mavs on Team East during the game were fielder Blake Dale, catcher Nate King, and pitchers Tanner Hail and Derek Archer.

Archer was the only Mavs player who didn’t play in the game. He had thrown 112 pitches through eight innings in a game against the Berries on Thursday.

On Saturday, Dale competed in the Home Run Derby and had a pair of homers, to sit in a five-way tie for sixth place. David Simmons of the Energy City Cactus Rats hit five in the opening round and six in the final round to take the win.

In the Bunt Competition, King scored three points to sit in a three-way tie for sixth place. The Saskatoon Berries’ Gael Salinas won the event with 13 points in round one and nine in the final round.
