Changes coming next month to country’s grading system: Canadian Grain Commission
The Canadian Grain Commission is updating grading procedures for amber durum, wheat and lentils for the 2026-27 crop year, which begins August 1.
In a release Wednesday, the CGC said the revisions will include updated procedures, definitions, and photo reference material.
New grading factors will include: darkened and severely darkened kernels for Canada Western Amber Durum, severe midge and penetrated smudge for Canada Western Amber Durum, and smudge and penetrated smudge for all wheat classes.
The start of next month will also see the current definitions for red lentils revamped to address new varieties of the legume.
