Chanse Vigen made history Sunday at the chuckwagon races at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede event.

He captured a record third consecutive championship at the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) Pro Tour stop.

Coming into the final day of the four-day event, Vigen held the top spot in the aggregate after a total time of 3:06.29 across three runs, the first three days. Layne Flad and Logan Gorst sat just behind him.

Vigen and his outriders won the final heat of the event by 0.57 seconds over Gorst.

Flad, who made his first career appearance in a championship final heat, finished third.

Earlier in the afternoon, Dustin Gorst posted the fastest run of the day at 0:59.86. It was 0.31 seconds faster than Evan Magee.

Magee set a new Medicine Hat track record with a time of 0:59.72 on Saturday night.

The 42-year-old Vigen has also won the WPCA World Championship three consecutive years.

The WPCA Pro Tour now moves to the Wainwright Stampede from June 18 to 21.
