The World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) races continue Friday night at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds.

Thursday night’s top time went to Chanse Vigen at 1:02.88. Vigen is looking for his third straight win at this year’s event in Medicine Hat.

His time was a full 1.38 seconds faster than Wade Salmond’s time of 1:04.26.

He was followed closely by Jason Glass at 1:04.29.

There were a total of 14 chuckwagon racers finishing with times under one minute and 15 seconds on Thursday.

A name that might be familiar to hockey fans was in seventeenth place on Day One.

Meadow Lake’s D.J. King played in 118 National Hockey League games for the St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals from 2006 to 2011.

Full results are available through the WPCA website.

Races on Friday and Saturday are at 7 p.m., with 36 wagons competing in 12 heats of three wagons each.

The event concludes on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Dash for Cash, featuring the three fastest wagons from the weekend.
